Steve Spencer is a retired Professor Emeritus from Western Kentucky University, where he led the Outdoor Leadership and Recreation and Sport Graduate Programs from 1990 to 2020. His diverse career also includes roles with the University of Arkansas, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and the YMCA, along with 12 years dedicated to coaching and teaching.

Through determination and her mantra, “We make things happen,” Debby House Spencer completed hundreds of community projects across Appalachia and the mid-southern USA. With her mental and physical resilience, she embodied a stoic, Spartan strength.
